People living in Central Taiwan are really lucky! From January 18th on, there will be 9 bus routes to and fro the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways, so that people who are living in Central Taiwan and interested in vehicle maintenance and driver training can have access to the more convenient public transport services.

On January 17th 8:30 A.M., the bus stop at the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways as an important place for vehicle maintenance and driver training in Central Taiwan were co-hosted by Director Chen Yen-Pa and Deputy Director Huang Yun-Kui from the General Directorate for Highways, Director Liu Ying-Piao from Taichung Motor Vehicles Office, Director Liu Ya-Ling from Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways, supervisors of bus transport operators and important guests from all walks of life. For the first time in 40 years, the "Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways" with the bus transport service was officially established.

Director Chen Yen-Pa said that over the years, the General Directorate for Highways has continued to promote the public transport development policy. Over 40 years since the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways was established in 1978, there has been no bus transport service. Trainees must drive a car or ride a scooter to attend the class, which was a great concern in traffic safety. Thus, it was necessary to strengthen public transport services and ensure the safety of trainees. Under the proactive suggestion of the Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways, the administrative assistance from Taichung Motor Vehicles Office and Taipei Motor Vehicle Office and all the other major bus transport operators, there was finally a result. On January 18th, there will be 9 bus transport routes to and fro the Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways. The public may make use of the service as much as possible.

According to Director Liu Ying-Piao from Taichung Motor Vehicles Office, on January 18th, there will be 9 routes to and fro the bus stop at the “Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways.” Trainees could use the bus transport to head for the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways from Taichung Railway Station, High Speed Rail Taichung Station, Chou-Ma Transfer Station over the National Highway in Taichung, Changhua Railway Station and Puli Transfer Station. Meanwhile, beside the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways, Taichung Motor Vehicles Office also builds a new building of Nantou Motor Vehicles Station, which is about to complete by the end of the year (2019). The public can now conveniently conduct Road Traffic Training and Motor Vehicles Supervision Affairs beside the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways away from its current address at Zhongxing Rd. in Nantou City.

According to Director Liu Ya-Ling from the Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways, the current bus transport routes from Zhongxing New Village mainly pass through Zhongxing Rd., which are quite far as they are s15-minute walking distance away from the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways. So, trainees rarely use them, and that is a pity. Each year, nearly 10,000 trainees would come to the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways. If trainees at the National School of Government and the Civil Service Development Institute (Nantou Branch) are also included, this area could contain up to 28,000 trainees each year, which allows the public transport to achieve its full potential. Thanks to the help from Taichung Motor Vehicles Office, Taipei Motor Vehicle Office and bus transport operators, the wish that the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways has had for so many years is finally fulfilled. In the future, the more convenient public transport services will be available, and the public won’t need to go through the trouble of driving a car or riding a scooter.

According to Director You Ming-Chuan from Nantou Motor Vehicles Station, on January 18th, 9 bus transport routes, including 6333 "Taichung-Zhongxing-Shueili," 6870 "Taichung-Shitou," 6871 "Taichung-Shanlinhsi," 1657 "High Speed Rail Taichung Station-Nantou," 1806 "Keelung--Chaoma-Nantou," 1831 "Taipei--Chaoma-Nantou," 6916 "Changhua-Nantou," 6875 "Puli-Nantou," and 6672 "Puli-Nantou," will pass through the bus stop at the "Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways." Trainees can use the aforementioned bus transport service to arrive at the Central Training Institute under the General Directorate for Highways, National School of Government or Civil Service Development Institute. Or, public servants in the neighborhood can also use the public transport service to commute to Taipei and/or Kaohsiung for work. Meanwhile, through the Real-Time Bus Arrival Information System of the General Directorate for Highways, trainees can also inquire about the bus transport routes, bus stop names and bus locations. The General Directorate for Highways has also built the iBus app for the public to inquire about the Real-Time Bus Arrival Information. You’re welcome to use it as much as possible. Meanwhile, with the Chinese New Year around the corner, the public are encouraged to “use public transport more and drive a car less” during the Chinese New Year Holidays. In order to reduce the traffic jam over the National Highway during the Chinese New Year, the General Directorate for Highways has implemented the special offer of 15% off the price of using the National Highway Bus Transport, and the special offer of one single ticket for the regional bus transport after taking Taiwan Railway, High Speed Rail or the National Highway Bus Transport, hoping that the public can maximize use of the public transport.
