Smartly inquire about your demerit points to effectively protect your rights and interests. Print

In order to fully implement the demerit point system and facilitate inquiry about the demerit points by the public, in December of 2018, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications coordinated with multiple convenience stores (7-11, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, OK-Mart and Simple Mart) to add the function of inquiring about demerit points for unsettled cases to their Multi-Media Kiosks, so that the public can notice their own demerit points.

At present, the public may not know whether there will be any demerit points recorded after monetary penalties are imposed. For example, running through the red light will receive a fine between NT$ 1800-5400 and 3 Demerit Points will be recorded. Speeding will receive a fine between NT$ 1200-6000 and 1 demerit point will be recorded. If 6 demerit points or more recorded for a driver within 6 months, the driver’s license will be suspended for 1 month. If the driver’s license is suspended 2 times within 1 year, the driver’s license will be revoked.

Kaohsiung Motor Vehicles Office is here to remind you that in addition to inquires through the Motor Vehicles Supervision Service APP and the Motor Vehicles Supervision Service Website, you can now go to the convenience store in the neighborhood and use the Multi-Media Kiosks to make inquiries. You only need to enter your ID No. and birth date to inquire about the demerit points for unsettled cases. Director Liang Kuo-Kuo from the Kaohsiung Motor Vehicles Office also calls on the public to abide to traffic rules for driving safety, for it will not only help you save money, but also prevent your driver’s license from suspension or revocation owing to demerit points.
